The artist, who studied the first two years of primary school in Ankara, continued primary school in Naples due to her father's job as a staff officer. She completed middle school and high school in Istanbul. She entered the Academy in 1966, at the age of 16. After graduation, she taught art history and later entered Marmara University as a research assistant. The artist, who was one of the founders of the university's sculpture department, is currently the Head of the Sculpture Department at Marmara University.
