EDA TAŞLI (b. 1978) Istanbul, Turkey
Eda TAŞLI, 1978 yılında İstanbul'da doğdu. Mimar Sinan Üniversitesi Ahşap Atölyesinden mezun oldu. 2007 yılında MSGSU TUYAP heykel sergisi standında sergilendi. 2008 yılında "İpek Ahmet Merey" Sanat ödülüne layık görüldü. 2008 yılında düzenlenen Leonardini ahşap oyuncak tasarımı yarışmasında birincilik elde etti. Pek çok üniversitede sanat sempozyumlarına aktif katılım sağladı. 2016 yılında "Gidelim mi?" başlıklı ilk solo sergisini gerçekleştirdi. Ardından 2020 yılında "Ahşap Pilot Heykel" projesi dahilinde İstanbul Havalimanı koleksiyonuna girerek, kalıcı kişisel sergisini başlattı. Bunların yanı sıra Aqua Art Miami, Art Basel, Contemporary Istanbul gibi pek çok uluslararası fuarda yer aldı. 2023 yılında kadınlar gününe özel hazırlanan "Sekizinci Renk: İz ve Renk" başlıklı AKM sergisinde eserleri yer aldı. Sanatçı 2023 yılında “İsyankarlar/Rebel Series" ile 2023 Turkey: Focus Country kapsamında davet edilen türk heykeltıraşlar arasında yer alarak Almanya NordArt International Fair'da sergilendi. İstanbul, Kadıköy’de yer alan atölyesinde sanat üretimlerine ve sergi/fuar gibi etkinliklere katılımlarına devam ediyor.
EDA TAŞLI- LAS MENINAS SERIES
While imagining the bridesmaids in this series, I was inspired by the dwarf girl and the princess in the
famous Spanish artist Diego Velázquez's work “Las Meninas”.
Actually, my work titled “Come on, don't you see the time!" is one of the characters that I first
created. I gave this character a special place in most of my drawings. The reason is that it was
actually the main character of the colorful world of my creation.
This dwarf character stops and looking at its watch, is now waiting for “something” to happen. It is
just waiting without doing anything, its dreams and ideals must be realized now, and it is impatiently
looking at its watch to see why they still haven't; after all, look at the time!
While waiting for the time to come, it attributes a different trait/quest to each of her dwarf friends in
the world that it has created in its own head (in accordance with its ideal understanding of beauty,
unlike itself).
For the dwarf, who is waiting for its time to come, the flow of time proceeds so differently that it is
impossible to know whether a second or a century has passed while it was waiting!
