Uğur Çakı was born in 1974 in Izmir, Turkey. He is an artist who works with ceramics, sculpture, painting, and video installations. He completed his studies at the Ceramic Department of Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Fine Arts in 2005. Throughout his education, he participated in numerous group exhibitions. In 2002, he earned the opportunity to participate in the Cairo Ceramic Biennial and was awarded the Jury Youth Prize, marking his first international success. In 2003, he took part in the Argentine Ceramic Biennial, and in 2006, he held his first solo exhibition in Istanbul.
Uğur Çakı has realized a total of 35 national and international group exhibitions and 7 solo exhibitions. He has received a total of 10 prestigious awards. In the second half of 2010, he was invited to the Louvre Salon Exhibition organized annually by the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts French Fine Arts Society by the UK Delegation, where he was awarded the Prix Special. In the same year, three of his works were selected for the International Elite Art Monaco exhibition. In 2012, his work was exhibited at the Saatchi Gallery in London as part of the Marie Curie Art Event. In 2013, he was invited as a guest of honor to the New York Contemporary Arts Biennial, along with Chinese artist Ai Weiwei.
The artist continues his work in his studios in Istanbul and Urla for exhibitions he will hold in Marseille, Venice, Dubai, Riga, London, Moscow, Rio De Janeiro, and Istanbul. Uğur Çakı is represented by Lin Art Gallery in Turkey, Lahd Gallery in London, and curator Pietro Franesi in New York.
