Cem Sağbil

Cem Sağbil was born in Zonguldak, Turkey in 1958. He completed his high school education in Ankara between 1970 and 1976. From 1976 to 1979, he studied Interior Decoration and Industrial Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Istanbul. He then went to Germany and started studying Ceramics and Sculpture at Stuttgart State Academy of Fine Arts in 1981. In 1982, he established his first studio in Kernerstrasse/Stuttgart. He taught Art and Ceramic courses at Kolpinkwerk and VHS and also participated in the construction of a mud-brick building in Cyprus using traditional dome construction techniques under the guidance of architect Hasan Fatty from 1982 to 1984. Sağbil completed his education at Stuttgart State Academy of Fine Arts in 1988 under the guidance of Prof. G. Spanulo.

Cem Sağbil

Sağbil began his art practice in 1991, working with various materials such as ceramics, wood, bronze, and oil painting. He predominantly focused on bronze sculpture works. In 1999, he established a Bronze Casting Workshop called Bronzhane in Izmir. He received the Artist of the Year Award in 2006-2007 and continues his artistic work in Izmir and Istanbul.
