Ahmet Burak Halıcı
The most important thing that defines me is my effort to understand and express. In my opinion, life encompasses many phenomena and emotions that ordinary people either do not comprehend or comprehend to a very limited extent. The duty of an artist should be to create and multiply in this void. I owe a lot to the pavement stones and the street walls I have scraped with my nails. Streets and street culture are my primary sources of inspiration. The dirty, marked texture of the walls transforms into plastic elements in my paintings. Thus, I can reshape the monotony and gloominess of our daily lives with a more humorous and colorful contrast.
Halıcı, with his unique style, creates depth and movement in his works by using warm colors and thick brushstrokes. One of the most remarkable features of the artist is the unusually large and distinct brushstrokes on the surface. This allows the movement and energy of the figures in his works to be better felt. Halıcı aims to establish a direct connection between the viewer and his artwork through this technique.
