Michail Tsakountis

I am often asked why I predominantly draw portraits, and the reason is that portraits hold a special place in the history of art. However, it's not that simple; I have always believed that art should primarily revolve around humanity. It is about cleansing the human passion, celebrating love, taming the wild nature within, and ultimately elevating the tragedy of human existence and confronting death.
Throughout my artistic journey, I have found no better companion than the human being. Their unique features and individual personalities present new challenges for me. The impulse to understand, communicate with, and love the "Other" forms the true reason for me to paint human faces.
