Hale Karpuzcu

Mine Art Gallery, in collaboration with Caresse Resort & Spa Bodrum, as part of the ongoing “Yeni
Zaman / New Era” exhibition (running until September 12, 2025), is proud to host the artist Hale
Karpuzcu’s project “Witnesses of Memory.”
This exclusive selection of 30 child portraits, which will be installed within the hotel, not only
reveals individual faces but also makes visible the silent testimonies of collective memory. The
artist’s carefully observed and crafted portraits bear the marks of a geography, a bygone era, and
perhaps even the shared memory of humanity. For Hale Karpuzcu, each work is like a mirror that
freezes time without compelling the past to speak.
More than a conventional portrait exhibition, “Witnesses of Memory” offers viewers a memory map
—an invitation to embark on an inner journey on both a personal and historical level. The time
seemingly captured in the eyes of these children draws the observer simultaneously into the present
and the past. These portraits reveal the traces of untold stories, suppressed testimonies, and a
collective silence. Hale Karpuzcu’s work extends a call to the viewer: “While exploring these faces,
you may very well encounter your own testimony.”
Furthermore, as part of this special project, on Saturday, 19 July 2025, the artist Hale Karpuzcu will
conduct a Portrait Workshop at Caresse Resort & Spa Bodrum. Participants will have the
opportunity to create their own portraits and explore a personal expression of memory through the
art of portraiture. The workshop is open to hotel guests and art enthusiasts, with detailed
information and registration requirements available upon application.
As Mine Art Gallery, we enrich the inclusive approach of the “Yeni Zaman / New Era” exhibition
with Hale Karpuzcu’s striking project, reaffirming our belief that art embraces not only new forms
but also the profound connection with the past.
